Figure skating involves individuals or groups to perform spins, jumps, footwork and other challenging moves on the ice. Possibly, Figure skating is a sport, but people play it in?an art way or they do it on a Saturday morning to prove they are more hardcore than you are.
Jumps are one of the most important elements of figure skating. Jumps involve the skater leaping into the air and rotating rapidly to land after completing one or more rotations. There are many types of jumps, identified by the way the skater takes off and lands, as well as by the number of rotations that are completed. There are six jumps in figure skating that count as jump elements.
Jumps and spins cannot be mastered without good edges and upper body control since it is this that sets the stage for what follows.
The approach to a jump is as important as the jump itself, since it is the approaching footwork that gets your entire body into the right position to jump. Figure skating actually tests your patience or stamina.
A flip jump is a move where the skater glides backward on a back inside edge, picks with the other skate, jumps a full revolution in the air, and lands on the back outside edge of the foot that picked. Lutz jump is done a similar manner to a flip, but the takeoff is from a back outside edge instead of a back inside edge. The Lutz jump was invented by Austrian man named Alois Lutz who first performed the jump in competition in 1913.
Well, above are some of the basics, which will help you in figure skating.
It is a demanding and exhaustive sport, but if you have a feel of it once, then you are certainly going to like it.
