Mount Isa Mayor John Molony has briefly appeared in court on a drink-driving charge.

Molony, 69, was pulled over on New Year's Eve and allegedly recorded a blood alcohol concentration of 0.11 - more than twice the legal limit.

He appeared in Mount Isa Magistrates Court on Wednesday morning, and was granted a two-week adjournment.

Mr Molony, who is yet to enter a plea, will appear in the same court on January 16.
